The Violet Hour is a musical about fate, ambition, and the urge to glimpse into the future.
Set on April 1, 1919, in New York City, it captures a moment of promise and possibility. At this moment in time, many Americans believed the worst events of the modern world were behind them and the rest of the 20th Century was destined to be bright.
The story is set on April 19, 1919, when John Pace Seavering, a young publisher comes to possess a machine inexplicably begins printing pages from books. Books from the future.
Page by page, John pieces together a vision of what the next century has in store for himself, his friends, and the world at large.
And he must grapple with an impossible question: Should knowing what happens tomorrow affect how you live today? Because once John decides to change the future, the clock is ticking.
With a cast of five and a single set, The Violet Hour blends musical comedy, drama, historical fiction, and fantasy into a story about time, consequence, and the choices that shape our lives.
Based on the play by the late Tony-Award-winning playwright Richard Greenberg, the Studio Cast Recording of The Violet Hour was named "The Best Cast Recording of the Year” by the Broadway Radio Show and declared "Essential listening for any true musical theatre fan" by Broadway World.
The album stars Santino Fontana, Erika Henningsen, Jeremy Jordan, Solea Pfeiffer, and Brandon Uranowitz and has been streamed millions of times.
